Mafia’s answer to Zanzibar’s Nakupenda, the Mange sandbank is a stretch of pale sand surrounded by clear water that emerges at low tide, ideal for a quiet beach outing without the crowds.
Boat out to the sandbank for a few hours of swimming, relaxing, and often a fresh seafood lunch set up right on the sand. Because Mafia receives far fewer visitors than Zanzibar, this stretch of sand tends to feel much more secluded.
Timing depends on the tide, so trips are scheduled around when the sandbank is exposed.
