Your journey starts in a busy city of Arusha that is located under the shadow of Mount Meru. Our company will pick you up at your hotel or at the Kilimanjaro international airport and accommodate you into a comfortable mid range hotel to spend the night. You will be spending the day in the bustling centre of Arusha, maybe you have a visit the bustling Maasai Market to see the colourful crafts or enjoying yourself with a cup of coffee at a free local cafe and enjoy the mix of the urban and natural environment in the city. Our guides tell us about how Arusha is the safari gateway of Tanzania and some of its cultural connections with the local communities to introduce the journey. Your evening meal at your lodge is a delicious taste of the local dishes such as nyama choma (grilled meat), with a briefing on the exciting days ahead so that when you enter the wilderness, you are well prepared and in a relaxed mood.
On the second, when you are full of breakfast, you will take out in one of the rugged 4×4 vehicles and the two hour journey to Tarangire National Park where the terrain will change to savannas stretching like a broad highway punctuated with acacia trees. Over 2,850 square kilometers, Tarangire is a fascinating park with its huge herds of elephants, which are frequently observed bathe along the river Tarangire which is the source of life in the park. On your day long game drive, you see zebras grazing, giraffes stretching to the high branches and lions resting in the shade of the old baobab trees. With their experienced background our guides showcase the role of the park in conserving the elephants and we find little animal behaviors, which makes every viewing of an animal a story. An evening will see you arriving at a mid range lodge/tented camp close to the park and enjoy the comfort of a room, hot showers and a fine dinner of Tanzanian delicacies, a good rest after a day in the wild.
On the third day, you visit Tarangire to the most famous Serengeti National Park a four-hour journey through the hills and Maasai villages where herders and cows occupy the land with wild zebras. When you arrive in the Serengeti, one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites, which occupies an area of 14,750 square kilometers, you would feel the size of its golden plains. A whole day of game drive will lure you into this legendary ecosystem, wherein prides of lions hunt, wildebeest gathers in herds, and cheetahs run around the savanna. Even when you are at the park during off-peak times, our guides provide knowledge about the trends of the Great Migration, as well as how various habitats support such rich life in the park. You will spend the night in a mid range lodge or tented camp in the Serengeti where the cry of distant hyenas puts you to sleep and a full course dinner of local delicacies such as ugali and stew gives rise to discussions about the events of the day.
On the fourth day, you will explore more of what the Serengeti has to offer with another day full of game drives, beginning at sunrise when the predators are most active. You may find a leopard resting on a branch of acacia or hyenas picking at the early light, and our guides will give you a tip about following signs of the animals. The rocky kopjes and open grassland in the Serengeti create an incredible setting to see the big five lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino and colour is added by lilac-breasted rollers, ostriches and colourful birds. The bush picnic lunch allows you to enjoy the quiet and later on the afternoon drive to unearth more secrets of the park. Our guides will be part of the conservation issues of the Serengeti and will relate your experience to those the world is exerting to conserve this symbolic wilderness. A warm dinner and a snug bed awaits you back at your lodge, and the starlit sky provides an amazing view of which you can look back on the day itself.
On the fifth day, the morning game drive in the Serengeti starts and then a three-hour drive transporting the visitor to the אזור השימור נגורונגורו. Reaching the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, you will descend into this 260 sq km caldera that is a UNESCO site that is home to more than 25,000 animals. Game drives present a rich tapestry of life-black rhinos grazing in the soda lake, flamingos wading in the soda lake and lions strolling around with a stern quiet confidence. The closed ecosystem of the crater makes the observation close and personal, and our guides can tell us how the crater volcano walls form an ecosystem. Following picnic lunch on the bank of a pool of hippos, you will climb up to a mid range lodge on the rim of the crater, where the cooler air of the highlands soothes you. A meal enhanced with Tanzanian cuisine includes tales of the geologic background of the crater and how it has served as a refuge to endangered species which makes your association with this natural marvel more personal.
On day six you will say goodbye to the wilderness of the mainland and you will be flown off a nearby airstrip to זנזיבר, a small, yet beautiful trip to the spice island of the Indian Ocean. Once there you will be transferred to a mid-range beach resort on the clean coastline of Zanzibar with its turquoise waters and white sands. You have the day to relax–perhaps walk along the beach, swim in the warm ocean, or visit the neighboring Stone Town, a UNESCO place with its maze of old alleys and spice markets. Our team offers suggestions on how to spend time locally such as trying the seafood in Zanzibar or discovering the Swahili culture of the island. Your resort is equipped with cozy rooms, sea views, and tasty dinner with fresh catches and exotic fruits, and creates an atmosphere of a cozy holiday.
The seventh day is all about spilling in the relaxed Zanzibar. You can take part in a guided snorkeling adventure to the rainbow coral reefs, which contain colorful fish and sea turtles, or choose a spice tour to explore the aromatic power of cloves, vanilla and nutmeg that are all grown on the island. To the people who need to unwind, the beach invites them with sun beds and soft waves. Our guides will also provide you with some information on Zanzibar as a cultural melting pot, a mixture of African, Arab and Indian, which adds value to your experience. At another evening in your resort you will enjoy another evening of Zanzibari meals, maybe with a cocktail at the sunset in thought about the contrast between the wild heart of the mainland and the serene shores of the Island.
On the eighth day, you will spend with a final swim in the sea or Stone Town historical sites, such as the House of Wonders or the Old Fort and after that you will be transferred to the airport of Zanzibar so that you could get a plane back to Arusha or Moshi. This last leg is one to consider the journey you have just experienced; elephant havens to the endless plains of the Serengeti, the wildlife spectacle of the Ngorongoro Crater, and the pristine beaches of Zanzibar–you realize your adventure with Nurtured Wildlife Safaris is sustainable tourism and local communities.
